EIHWAZ / ehwaz: Timing
Keywords:
Patience, protection, striving, strength, reliability, dependability, trustworthiness, enlightenment sought and found, endurance, defense, testing
Meaning:
The yew does not break it bends, the yew does not go dormant it lives even in the death of winter. The yew grows its branches in the summer and its roots in the winter. Know what season you are in. Because this is the time when everything may seem to be death and dying, yet you still harbor your goals. This is a time to stand firm, be quiet and make sure you are firmly rooted where you want to be and you can bend with the coming winds.
This is a time of test. If you want a new and different job or career, consider holding off until you have more information. In a stale relationship? Not every lesson is learned from this one yet. Eihwaz (sometimes spelled ehwaz) often foretells that you will get your goal... in time.
Pick your battles wisely, do not get sucked into distractions that do not serve a higher purpose. Nor take action for the sake of movement. Even though you may not realize it, part of you is dying and transforming so you can be a stronger person. Like pruning a sick branch off a healthy tree, your psyche is trimming off an old aspect of ego self that needs to be released.
This is the rune of the standing death, you are very much alive but in the dead of a winter. You will know when the transformation has happened and it's OK to move forward. You will hear the regeneration of your life force, the bustling of fresh growth blooming forward. When you think of your plans and goals there will not be hesitancy, there will be a strong will and desire. When that comes it is then time to act.
Merkstaff:
Eihwaz / ehwaz can not be merkstaff, as the yew is always green and true so is eiwaz. If your life feels like a negative situation then it's because you have lost your roots and knowledge and trust of who you are. If confusion, destruction, dissatisfaction, weakness are currently your friends then you need to gather your wits and find your strength and stand strong. Do not make decisions out of fear. Find your strength and courage, you will be guided to better easier flow of life again.
Gods & Goddess’s it relates too:
Uller god of hunting and archery. Hunting and Archery have one major thing in common, patiences. The archer may hold the arrow drawn back in the bow until the target stops moving or the wind to die down. A hunter may chase its prey for days, only to get to a specific spot and lay in wait ... until the time is right.
plant / mineral: Mandrake, Yew / Smokey Quartz
Meditation:
Allow yourself to relax into a meditative state while hold your focus on Eihwaz.
